1 Is it appropriate for TSM to fact-check this subject?
Since we cannot examine every assertion, we concentrate on those in the following three areas:
Society, politics, and justice;
the economy, science, the environment ,and health .
If the assertion relates to one of these in Africa, it belongs in this category.
2. Did they imply that they were speaking factually or hypothetically?
Was there any implication that what was said was true?
We only investigate claims that are presented as accurate.
We cannot independently verify people’s opinions.
3. What effect would it have if left Unchecked?
What consequences would the claim have if we didn’t investigate it?
The more significant the impact, the more likely we are to investigate the assertion you make.
If you submit a recommendation, please explain why you think we should check it and what effect you believe it would have if it didn’t.
4. Has this subject or this person already been Fact-checked?
Have we already talked about the claimant or the subject?
One of our core values is to consistently fact-check all sides of the debate and avoid focusing on any one of them in particular.
If we have already fact-checked something several times, we are less likely to do it again.
