Emmanuel Tophic Degleh, the Secretary General of the Association of Liberia Community Radios (ALICOR) and Manager of Classic Communications Inc. posted a 0.07-minute video on his Facebook handle on December 17, 2024, with caution: “Where is this happening? Many people post that this is happening in Liberia, which is not true, but our fact-checker friends could help further.”
In the video, two police officers were seen in a fistfight with a civilian for an unknown reason, while three other men who were nonparticipants of the fight were also seen in the video.
These officers were seen with a black beret and an orange reflector over their uniform. However, the officers of the Liberian National Police wear blue berets instead of black berets, as seen in the video.
It is complicated to understand what the people in the video said. The video did not show what led to the fight and the aftermath of the fight.
Our search found that the original video was posted by the Top Feelings Promo, a media/new company involved in Musique, Sport, Divertissement, Actualite EN Temps Reel, Couverture Mediatique, and Promo Products ET Service. The link to its WhatsApp
We also found the portion of the video posted by Degleh was initially posted by “Le Point Congo TV” on YouTube with caution: “Congo Kinshasa, le pure Capital du monde.” This in English means “Congo Kinshasa, the pure capital of the world.”
We also listen to the voices of people cheering in the video and it doesn’t match that of a Liberian pidgin.
Conclusion: Beware: The video of police officers in a fistfight is not from Liberia.
