Social Media for weeks circulated a message with claims that the United States of America invited former President and Vice President Ellen Sirleaf and Joseph Boakai leaving out George Weah to its inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
Claim: Who is the lobbyist for our government in the USA, if any? The list of invitees to the inauguration of president-elect Joe Biden include Joseph Nyumah Boakai (JNB) and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (EJS) but not President George Weah. Can you guys see if an invitation is available at the US Embassy?
Facts: The US Embassy in an email exchange said “No speakers, performers, nor attendees have been announced at this time for the Inauguration of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris. Those announcements will be made via https://bideninaugural.org/ and https://twitter.com/BidenInaugural
The Embassy said any information about potential attendees that are circulated prior to official announcements should be considered Unsubstantiated.
