Below is an overview and analysis of Margibi County's approved budget.
What are Margibians saying about the proposed and approved budget?
During a daylong Anti-corruption Dialogue in Margibi County under the auspices of the Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia, participants noted that the said amount is not sufficient to cover all the sectors and major institutions in the county.
Citizens said with the growing population and huge demand for service deliveries, the amount allocated by sectors is not enough to sustain the various sectors for even a quarter, let alone a year.
They made a special emphasis on the C.H. Rennie Hospital, expressing doubt whether US$ 100,000 can sustain the hospital and buy every necessary operational material, including medical supplies for the year.
The participants at the Dialogue used the medium to call on the national government to see reason and increase the county budget for 2026.
Conclusion: TSM observed that the Margibi County-approved 2025 budget was increased with the addition of the County Social Development Service, which the Margibi County Orphanage Home was captured by. Our team also noticed that people living with disabilities were not captured in the budget for the county.
