The Stage Media chooses remarks from politicians, economists, businesses, trade unionists, journalists, and public personalities, media outlets, or other opinion-forming organizations, among others, without discriminating based on their party or ideological inclination.

Once the statement has been picked, the person who made it is consulted to determine the source of the data utilized. If the statement is obtained directly, other sources are used to confirm its veracity and explain its significance and impact. If this is not feasible, the check is conducted using alternate methods, such as documentation (public and private reports, studies, or statistical compilations) and interviews with professionals. If someone has a known political allegiance, it is indicated.

After verifying the data, when relevant, the context that helps to understand it is added. Context is understood especially as the local socio-economic, historical and cultural framework and, whenever possible, the regional and international ones. In any case, an attempt is made to ensure that verification is not limited to an exclusively literal comparison.

For a good check-up, we follow eight steps:

  1. Select a phrase from the public domain.
  2. Consider its relevance.
  3. Consult the original source.
  4. Consult the official source.
  5. Consult alternative sources.
  6. Place in context.
  7. Confirm, relativize, or deny the statement.
  8. Qualify or conclusion.
