Verdict: Fake! The link is meant to scam users.

Full Text: A website claims to be recruiting staff for 200 different positions at the National Port Authority (NPA). The link has been making the rounds in professional WhatsApp groups.

The website showcases the National Seal of the Republic of Liberia and that of the NPA on the form, along with personal details and previous applications.

An application form on the website asks for personal details such as name, phone number, region, country of residence, and whether the applicant has applied before. Please see a screenshot of the form below.

The National Port Authority (NPA) in Liberia was established in 1967 and amended in 1970 to manage and build public ports. It has four ports: Freeport of Monrovia, Port of Buchanan, Port of Greenville, and Port of Harper.

The NPA’s strategic vision is to become a premier port in West Africa, strengthen the economy, improve international trade, and spur tourism and community development.

With a throughput of over 2.3 million metric tons and employing over 250 Liberian and foreign nationals, the NPA is an ISPS-compliant client. In 2014, operations increased by 13% despite the Ebola virus outbreak.

Verification:  To authenticate the information, we checked the link using Scamdoc and discovered that the HTTPS security protocol has been detected on this website but also warned the public to be careful because the indicator is not always synonymous with security.

Also, in a disclaimer post on the NPA Facebook page, The Port issued a disclaimer about the online recruitment process that is making rounds across social media platforms.

The NPA’s post warned the public of scammers using the NPA’s name and image.

“The Port’s management, led by Managing Director, Sekou Hussein Dukuly, is working to upgrade the port sector and will inform the public about future recruitment,” the disclaimer said.

Conclusion:  Based on the findings, it has been determined that the information is a scam. The NPA is not recruiting new employees, as stated on the website.
