Full Text: On Monday, January 6, 2025, Spoon FM posted on its official Facebook page that three lawmakers from the "minority members bloc" of embattled House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa joined ranks with their colleagues of the "majority bloc" presided over by Richard Nagbe Koon during the closing of the session of the House of Representatives.
The post said the three lawmakers—Mulbah, Cooper, and Quioh—who had remained loyal to the ousted Speaker Fonati Koffa during the recent impasse, were seen on Monday, January 6, 2025, in a session presided over by Speaker Koon's leadership.
Spoon TV Live is a multimedia platform with three radio stations and social media platforms. The post generated 1K reactions, 790 comments, and 82 shares as of this check.
Verification: To verify this claim, we contacted the three lawmakers via the following mediums: WhatsApp and Messenger.
For his part, Representative Sumo K. Mulbah of Electoral District #3, Montserrado County, responded with this write-up.
" On this note, I, Hon. Sumo Kollie Mulbah, have decided to attend regular sessions at the State of the Nation Address (SONA). But let this be made clear: I am doing this for the sake of the Liberian people and not a cent from anyone."
Meanwhile, Representatives Prescilia Cooper and Thomas Romeo Quioh did not reply to our inquiries sent via messenger.
However, we further contacted James M. Kolleh, House's Committee Chair on Rules, Order, and Administration. Kolleh, in a messenger conversation, confirmed the information about the three Koffa supporters joining them (the majority bloc) and said that the lawmakers were currently in session as of the time we messaged him.
We also visited the official Facebook page of the House of Representatives. We found a press statement signed by the Director of Press at the House of Representatives, Robert Haynes, confirming that the three lawmakers have joined their colleagues to do the Liberian people's job.
