The National Elections Commission (NEC) will hold a representative by-election in District #5, Nimba County, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. This election will fill the seat left vacant after former Representative Samuel G. Kogar was elected to the Liberian Senate in April 2025.
Key Facts:
Eligible voters: 29,823 registered voters in District #5.
—14,732 men and 15,091 women—
Voting hours: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Candidates: 10 people are contesting for the seat.
Voting centers: 21 precincts with 69 polling places.
Voting requirement: Only registered voters with a valid voter registration card will be allowed to vote, and each voter can vote only once.
Campaign Rules:
Campaigning ends on August 9, 2025, at 12 midnight.
From this time, no voter will be allowed to wear or carry campaign materials—such as t-shirts, hats, lappers, shoes, or slippers—to polling places on election day.
Election Day Restrictions:
The government has declared August 12, 2025, a public holiday in District #5 to allow citizens to vote.
Shops, markets, and trading stalls will remain closed during voting hours.
Citizens are encouraged to cast their votes peacefully and then return home to await official results.
Important Reminder: Without a valid voter card, you will not be allowed to vote.
