Verdict:  The claim  that Jallah was sodomized in jail and then taken to John F. Kennedy Medical Center for treatment is untrue. And the claim that Jallah was using a correction officer's phone in prison is accurate.

Full Text: On February 12, 2025, Gary The Blogger made a post in which it claims that defendant Bill Jallah, who allegedly murdered his girlfriend Princess Zuo in December 2024, was sodomized by male inmates while incarcerated  at the Monrovia Central Prison (commonly known as South Beach). Adding that she has been taken to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital  (JFK) for treatment.

A similar post was made by Shine Liberia , JNB, and journalist Garmah Lomo.

The posts received  1.3K reactions, 807 comments, 34 shares, 238 reactions, 178 comments, and 12 shares, and 128 reactions, 52 comments, and 1 share, respectively.

Verification: When contacted by Jutonu Kollie, Director of Press and  Public Affairs, Ministry of Justice, to authenticate information, he said Jallah is currently at the Monrovia Central Prison, popularly known as South Beach.

“Jallah is well and awaiting trial. He has not been taken to the hospital. Due to the concerns raised on social media about his health, prison authorities arranged for him to meet with his mother to clarify his status.”

Kollie said during this meeting, Jallah informed his mother that he had not been harmed and did not know where such information was coming from.

When contacted, Lomo confirmed that such information posted by her was correct. She insisted on sending a screenshot of their conversation.

We further contacted Ndupellar  to verify the claims. He stated that Lomo's post was incorrect. “ I messaged Garmah on what she posted, which included two claims: that Bill was allegedly sodomized and that he was taken to JFK Hospital.”

Ndupellar explained that upon hearing that information, they summoned the prison superintendent to clarify whether any such incidents had been reported.

He furthered that he informed Garmai via message that it was untrue for Jallah to have been taken to JFK Hospital because any hospital visit would require clearance from their office.

Adding that, during an unannounced search at the prison, it was discovered that Jallah possessed an Android phone violating personal rules, allowing him to engage in unauthorized communication.

Mark Boiwu, brother of Jallah, confirmed that Jallah is in good health. He stated that information circulating on social media about Jallah's condition is misleading, adding that he had visited his brother just the day before these social media claims began spreading.

According to him, during his visit, representatives from the Ministry of Justice, accompanied by a medical team, also came to check on Jallah's wellbeing. While Jallah reported feeling fine, the Ministry insisted on conducting a thorough medical examination to ensure he was not concealing any health issues.

Boiwu said at no time his brother was raped or sodomized, as circulated by bloggers.

Conclusion: Based on our investigation, the viral claims about Bill Jallah being raped or sodomized in prison are misleading, as there’s no evidence to prove it.
Additionally, the journalist is correct that Minister Ndupellar confirmed to her that Jallah was using the correction officer's phone in prison.
