Verdict: Misleading, Brown was never absent from the May 13, 2025 session of the House of Representatives

Full Text: On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, during the first day sitting of the second quarter of the second session of the House of Representatives of the 55th Legislature, Nimba Intellectual Parrot made a Facebook post alleging that Samuel N. Brown, Representative, Nimba County District #1, was absent from the session and instead in Ganta, a city within his district, purportedly signing loan documents.
The post has garnered 40 comments, 27 reactions, and 31 shares as of the time of this check.
Prior to his election in 2023, Brown was considered one of the most successful businessmen in the county, with numerous businesses, Bersam Loan Service among others.
Verification: To verify the claim, TSM reviewed the live video coverage of the House session broadcast on Spoon TV Live. At the 17:00 mark of the 17:20 minute video, Brown was seen present and responding to his name during the official roll call in the main chamber, confirming his attendance.
The record shows that 69 lawmakers were present, while only 4 were absent.
Further, during the House Speaker election—listed as item D on the day’s agenda—Brown was again called upon to vote between the two candidates: Musa Bility (Nimba County District #7) and Richard Nagbe Koon (Montserrado County District #11).
At the 1:35 mark of a 1:48:33 video by DN News Liberia, Brown is seen walking up to cast his vote as the first lawmaker from Nimba County to do so.
Additionally, TSM contacted Wuotema Suah, Chief of Staff in Brown’s office, who confirmed that the lawmaker was not in Ganta on May 13.
Suah stated that after the House adjourned, Brown returned to his residence in Monrovia between 4:00 and 5:00 PM.
Conclusion: The claim made by Nimba Intellectual Parrot is misleading. Contrary to the allegation, Representative Samuel N. Brown was present and actively participated in the House of Representatives session on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
