Full Text: on September 27, the blog posted that Sando S. Kromah, a Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Agriculture, raped a 14-year-old. A September 27, press release by the Liberian Women Against Rape and Gender-Based Violence (LIWAR-GBV) condemning and demanding Accountability in the alleged rape incident referred to Kroman as a 14-Year-Old Girl by a procurement division employee.
Verification: The Ministry of Agriculture issued a release on September 29, confirming Sando S. Kromah status at the ministry. The Ministry stated in it's release clarify that the individual involved, Mr. Sando S. Kromah, is neither an employee nor an official of the Ministry, but a contractor within the procurement unit of the Ministry.
The release said, "The Agriculture Ministry's attention has been drawn to reports circulating on social media and other media platforms regarding an alleged rape case, referring to the alleged suspect as an "official of the Ministry of Agriculture."
The Ministry also informed the public that, in line with its zero tolerance for sexual-based violence and other unwholesome practices in society, it has taken administrative action against the alleged perpetrator by suspending his contractor engagement pending the conclusion of the investigation by the government.
The Ministry of Agriculture strongly condemns all forms of sexual and gender-based violence and reaffirms its full cooperation with the Liberia National Police and all relevant authorities to ensure that justice is served.”
Conclusion: Kormah is a contractor and not an employee of the institution.
