Full Text: Garrison Yealue, one of the senatorial candidates in the April 22, 2025, senatorial election in Nimba County, claimed that Samuel Kogar, another candidate and current lawmaker of Nimba District 5, has not served on any committee.
The claim is here (one hour, fifteen minutes, twenty-seven seconds) when he appeared on a radio show.
Yealue said, “Kogar is a three-time lawmaker, and he has not served on any committee. In 2024, he didn’t serve as chair or co-chair on any committee; he was a mere floor member.”
Kogar is the candidate from the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), the party of the late Johnson.
He is a cousin to the late Johnson and believes he is widely considered as successor to Johnson because of the many traditional theatrics performed during the late senator's funeral procession in January.
Kogar received an endorsement from former district 5 representative candidates in Nimba and the wife of the deceased.
Verification: To verify the claim, Kogar, in a radio presentation (9:49), said he was appointed to serve the Commerce Committee and Immigration and Customs Affairs in 2024.
The House of Representatives Facebook page showed that in 2024, Kogar chaired the Budget Advisory Committee to oversee and manage the budget process, ensuring its alignment with the new administrative measures.
