When Peter George, the quack medical doctor, returned as County Health Officer (CHO) after being reportedly recalled in 2023, there was a huge parade in Gbarpolu County.
The cheering citizen is heard chanting, “We want George, poor man, doctor.”
George served as CHO for approximately 2 years, and when he was about to be recalled, the citizens of Gbarpolu pleaded that such action should not be taken.
There have been protests and petitions against the government’s decision to recall him as well.
A Facebook post from former Gbarpolu senator and pro-temp Armah Jallah detested his withdrawal.
When he was recalled from Gbarpolu, he was assigned to JFK, but George didn’t take up the assignment.
Before serving as CHO in Gbarpolu, George served at Jallah Lone, as medical director in Gbarpolu, and at E&J Grant in Nimba.
While seen as a doctor, he carried out several medical outreaches, including JJ Dossen, Mayland, Bong, Gbarpolu, and River Gee counties.
In 2020, George donated to the Muslim community under the umbrella, “Dr. Peter M. George Humanitarian Foundation makes donations to the Muslim community in Ganta
George, in response to the allegation, said he is a torchbearer in the surgical community, “a leader who inspires action where others have long remained stagnant.”
He claimed that he is a fellow of the Royal College of England (FRCSEng), which we are verifying.
“I categorically and unequivocally state that I have never assumed another person’s identity, and I will never do so. I am Dr. Peter Matthew George, also known as Dr. Matthew P. George — a qualified medical doctor and surgeon with verifiable credentials and a long-standing commitment to the welfare of Liberian doctors.”
George says the action by the Liberia Medical and Dental Council is a political smear campaign.
“It is no surprise that smear campaigns are used to silence credible voices. I have been at the forefront of advocating for the rights and welfare of Liberian doctors through the Liberia Medical and Dental Association (LMDA), and this has made me a target,” he says.
“No one can ever be me, and I refuse to be intimidated or falsely accused into silence.”
George said he has never forged any document nor impersonated anyone.
“I have never stolen anyone’s identity; I am a duly trained and credentialed medical doctor and surgeon.”
But, he confirmed that his undergraduate documents are unavailable: “While my undergraduate documents are currently not readily available, I am prepared to send you verified and legal documentation to support my qualifications and identity.”
George said he is a surgical trainer and has documents. “My life is at stake with this information. If even I have killed someone, LMDA should know I have always stood for the association.”
Our investigation established that he trained doctors on external rotations in these counties.
Whose Identity?
George said he didn’t forge an identity of Dr. Peter M. George, a Sierra Leonean doctor who died in 2020.
It is unknown what ‘fake doctor’ George's name is in Sierra Leone, even though on his social media page, he confirmed that he is a Sierra Leonean.
News of his death was officially announced by The Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association
What did he present?
Quack doctor George reportedly has a postgraduate diploma in general surgery from the Tech Global University with the start date 18-01-2024 to 19-07-2024.
We have contacted the university, which has yet to respond to our inquiry.
It is a fact that the university has a postgraduate program and a general surgery department and other specialties, but it is unknown if George is a graduate as claimed
George also has a fellowship in family medicine from the Martin Luther Christian University, India, from 24-06-2016 to 28-06-2016
