Seventeen days after the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) credential committee revoked the license of Peter George as a doctor, the Dental Association nullified him as president of the association.

The council is an independent agency in Liberia responsible for overseeing medicine, dentistry, and alternative medicine, aiming to provide high-quality healthcare through the implementation of regulations and guidelines.

In a May 7 release titled "Leadership Reform of the Liberia Medical and Dental Association (LMDA), the association said George ceased to be a member of the association and his role as president of the association after being officially informed about the council revocation action against George on May 5, 2025.

The LMDA release states that the action is in line with section 2.0 of the third revised laws and constitution of the LMDA.

“The executive council of the LMDA has duly informed Mr. Peter M. George that he has ceased to be a member of the association, and hence his role as president of the LMDA has been nullified.”

The LMDA says the action will remain in full effect until George can obtain clearance from the LMDC, reinstating him as a licensed medical doctor.

“In the interim, as unanimously endorsed by the executive council, Dr. Deddeh E.P. Supuwood will act as president of the LMDA until elections are conducted to fill all vacancies within the leadership structure.”

George, on his LinkedIn page, claimed that he is a County Health Officer, Gbarpolu County, a Consultant Rural Surgeon, and a Board Certified Surgeon.

He said, “Committee Chair - Outreach and Research, Liberia Medical and Dental Association (LMDA) for 2 years.” Serving as the Committee Chair for Outreach and Research at the LMDA, I demonstrated a commitment to advancing healthcare initiatives and research efforts in Liberia. In this role, I likely coordinated outreach programs, facilitated medical research projects, and fostered collaboration among healthcare professionals.”

Before his presidency, George served as elected vice president of the Liberia Medical and Dental Association (LMDA) on 16th December, 2023.

“My recent election as vice president of the LMDA speaks volumes about my leadership abilities and my standing within the medical community. In this capacity, I play a key role in shaping the direction of the association, advocating for healthcare improvements, and representing the interests of medical and dental colleagues.”
