Claim: “For insulting we the mothers and fathers of Grand Bassa, all Bassa people should unfollow Gary with immediate effect.”

Source: Shaking Table Association

Verdict: Misleading and fake.

Full Text: On the 15th of January 2024,  Gary the blogger made an unfriendly post against the people of Bassa, one of the 16 tribes of Liberia, a post he later took down after backlash from his followers.

Gary subsequently made an apology post for his actions. Another social media page, “Shaking Table Association - The Vawulence HQ,”  posted on January 16, 2025, that Senate Protemp Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence had instructed Bassa citizens to immediately unfollow “Gary The Blogger” for supposedly insulting mothers and fathers of the county.

The blog attached a screenshot of a post believed to be done by the Grand Bassa senator expressing her frustration for the alleged disrespect meted out against the people of Bassa and asking all individuals of the tribe to unfollow Gary the blogger.

Verification: When contacted for verification, the senator said such information was fabricated. She noted that her Facebook page is currently undergoing the verification process to prevent future misattribution of statements to her name.

“It’s fake; verification for my page is being processed,” she replied.

TSM, through a review of the senator's social media handle, found no such post in that regard.

We contacted The Vawulence HQ blog to verify the post, but received no response after two days.

Conclusion: Based on direct confirmation from  Senator Karnga Lawrence, revision of her page, and the absence of corroborating evidence, the  claim is misleading and the page is fake.
