Claim: Cane Juice (Alcohol or Liquor) is the medicine for COVID-19

Full Text: Some citizens have claimed that cane juice or liquor is the medicine for covid, megaphone users are circulating the claim. The megaphones are heard saying following “Cane Juice can kill Covid-19, worry no more, you only need two glasses a day.

Verification: The World Health Organization (WHO) does not recommend alcohol consumption to prevent the coronavirus. “No, drinking alcohol does not protect you from coronavirus infection.
Alcohol should always be consumed in moderation and people who do not drink alcohol should not start drinking in an attempt to prevent the infection.”

The real danger in contracting the COVID-19 virus is that it can get into your lungs and lead to pneumonia. According to the CDC, the alarm was raised about coronavirus after  patients died of “cases of pneumonia of unknown cause … reported in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.”

Alcohol can be used to disinfect surfaces and kill COVID-19, and some distilleries are making hand sanitizer to address the shortage. But drinking it will not provide any protection against this virus. And it may even make you more susceptible.
